Which report is this?
This page summarizes the City of Chandler's 2025 Drinking Water Quality Consumer Confidence Report (public water system AZ04-07-090), its newest published report.1,2 It covers City of Chandler water only. Gilbert and Tempe publish their own reports; see our Gilbert report summary.
Chandler's water comes from three sources: the Pecos Water Treatment Plant (Salt River, Verde River and Colorado River water, plus SRP wells, delivered by the Consolidated Canal), 27 city wells that supplied groundwater in 2025, and the Santan Vista Water Treatment Plant, which Chandler co-owns with Gilbert and which treats Colorado River (CAP) water.1

What isn't published?
TDS: the 2025 report doesn't list total dissolved solids. It also gives hardness as a citywide range, with no figure by area or ZIP code.1 The city's FAQ page gives different numbers, 5 to 20 grains per gallon with a 16.5 gpg average, and doesn't say what year they're from.3 We use the 2025 report's 10.1–16.8 gpg. For a reading at your tap, test it or ask a dealer to.
What does this mean for home treatment?
- Scale: the whole published range is hard water, so a softener is common. Test your tap to set it. See softener cost in Chandler, Gilbert & Tempe and hard water in Chandler, Gilbert & Tempe.
- Taste and dissolved minerals: TDS reduction is a required claim for RO systems certified to NSF/ANSI 58. Check a unit's listing for anything else it's certified to reduce.5
- Chlorine taste: carbon filters certified to NSF/ANSI 42 target chlorine taste and odor.6
- Sodium: tap water already carries 100–280 ppm. A salt-based softener adds more, so ask about RO for drinking water if that matters to you.
